What’s New At Cloud Summit 2013

If you are preparing to make travel plans to this year’s premier industry events, don’t forget to mark your calendar for the fourth annual Ingram Micro Cloud Summit, being held April 8-10 in Scottsdale, AZ. The event’s host, Renee Bergeron, VP of managed services and cloud, shared with me that Ingram Micro moved the event earlier in the year at the request partners. With cloud such a pivotal element in their business strategy, partners really wanted the opportunity to hear from cloud experts and their successful peers sooner rather than later. Other changes in the summit include the location, it will be held at the JW Marriot Desert Ridge Resort, and, of course, a fresh round of keynote speakers.

In fact, I am extremely excited about the presentation from keynote speaker Capt. Jim Lovell, who piloted the ill-fated Apollo 13 NASA mission. Lovell will address how challenging times often breed the best in innovation. If you’ve never seen the Ron Howard movie, please check it out prior to seeing Lovell speak. The flick includes one of the best lines, an emphatic statement from the head of NASA Mission Control, who says, “We’ve never lost an American in space, we’re sure as hell not gonna’ lose one on my watch! Failure is not an option.” It’s that attitude that brought the space mission home safely, and I am excited to hear how Lovell ties the ingenuity of that time to today’s technology revolution.
