The first annual Ingram Micro Cloud Summit Europe, taking place March 30 – April 1 in Barcelona, hosted a number of impressive industry announcements, including the news that Cisco and Ingram Micro are expanding their strategic cloud partnership. The shared goal between the two partners is to bring Cisco Intercloud to the channel through the Ingram Micro Cloud Marketplace. Ingram Micro will offer a broad portfolio of services delivered through Intercloud, which will enable resellers to quickly and easily embrace cloud and hybrid IT.
Per the recently signed Aggregation agreement, the immediate focus will be to deliver Cisco cloud services such as WebEx, Meraki, and Cisco HCS (Hosted Collaboration Solution) via the Ingram Micro Cloud Marketplace to channel partners worldwide.
Cisco Intercloud is built upon Intercloud Fabric, a software platform that enables hybrid cloud control, workload portability, security and compliance in a multi-cloud environment. Additionally, Cisco Intercloud incorporates Cisco’s Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI) software, which automates and unifies physical and virtual infrastructures, enabling automatic resource provisioning based on end users’ workload needs — without compromising application visibility, management, scalability and performance.
“Cisco’s cloud strategy is to build the platform for the IoT [Internet of Things] by connecting the world of many clouds into the Intercloud,” said Cisco Business Development Manager John Smith. “Just as the Internet grew out of the connection of multiple isolated networks, the Intercloud is driving the connection of multiple isolated clouds while increasing the choice of cloud consumption models for IT services.”
